Ode to Jimmy Choo Shoes
First of all . . . sorry it has been so long since I blogged. Got distracted with other things. So tonight I went to the movies with my roommate Amanda. We had decided to bypass and avoid the Institute activity and go see Confession of a Shopaholic. Which by the way was totally cute and I totally recommend it. Anyway since it was opening night we
had decided to go early to make sure we got our tickets. Since we were already there and had some time to kill we decided to get some Ice Cream at Coldstone and then we wandered into one of my favorite stores, DSW. I needed new work shoes so it was a great diversion. While out on the regular floor I wasn't spotting anything that was really jumpping out to me and so we decided to go back to that wonderful little roo
m in the back that has all the for sale shoes from 40% off to 80% off. What a wonderful little room. Amanda was totally stoked because she never knew the room existed. We started looking and all of the sudden Amanda spotted some blue Marc by Marc Jacobs shoes. They were totally cute. I still think she should have bought them. These were 80% off which made them like eighty dollars. To some this may seem a lot of money for shoes, but for Marc Jacobs shoes they are totally cheap. Amanda decided against them and we kept looking . . . . all of the sudden I spotted the holy grail of shoes. I spotte
d some red high heel Jimmy Choo's that were also 80% off. Do you realize how rare this is? They were very much like the ones I have posted in this blog, but they were red. They were totally cute and I totally fell in love. I immediately took them to Amanda to have her help me figure out the math. . . . $120 and that was 80% off the original price. I had never spent that much on a pair of shoes. It made a lump rise up in my throat. Totally rare to find a pair of Jimmy Choo's for $120, but totally not what I have EVER paid for a pair of shoes. I then proceeded to call friends and text friends for their imput . . . . most were saying wow, but also saying . . . walk away. Amanda on the other hand was totally telling me to get them. They were totally cute and totally comfy. Finally I hear them turn off the music. I aske
d a girl that was working there . . . "are you closing?" Sure enough, they were . . . I had to make a decision. I finally decided to walk away. I knew I was going to totally have buyers remorse over this if I bought them. The store closed and I was Jimmy Choo-less. We wound up wandering over to Nordstrom Rack where I found more Jimmy Choo's but they were much mo
re expensive and finally found a pair of practical flats for work for $30. $90 less than my beloved Jimmy Choo's. We then went to see the movie which made me feel better about walking away from the shoes. They are a want . . . not a need. I can do a lot more with that money . . . . but I will always think back to the day that I almost owned a pair of Jimmy Choo's , and one of these days I WILL own a pair. Ta ta for now.
